I work worth organizations, large and small, on a daily basis to try and help address their security needs. One of the hottest buzzwords right now is Secure Access Service Edge, or SASE (pronounced sassy) as its known in the industry.
SASE is primarily a Gartner defined term to describe a set of technologies that come together to provide both network and security services to organizations that are primarily focused on outbound web browsing security, including:
Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN)
Secure Web Gateway (SWG)
Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB)
Firewall as a Service (FWaaS)
Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA)
My goal with this blog and in my career is to bring executives, Cyber Security, Network, and End User teams together to understand what SASE has to offer and determine which, if any, of these features make sense for individual organizations.
Over the next few months (and maybe years?) I’ll be posting about the basic definitions and components of SASE, where I am seeing customers have the most success in deploying these solutions, as well as my personal thoughts on the OEMs that are out there in the industry and the features where their products shine the brightest. And hopefully you’ll find the information useful along the way!
